Saskatchewan, our future is... PDF Print E-mail

..already promised and/or spent (if you vote for the NDP).

Yes, Lorne Calvert's election promises are going to paid from the PROVINCE'S GROWING ECONOMY! Lorne, I gotta tell you man, you have just crossed over into Stompin' Tom country: 'SAVING LOTS OF MONEY SPENDING MONEY WE DON'T GOT'.

So Lorne's crystal ball shows him that we can have all he's promised just by waiting for the future to arrive. Yep, Saskatchewan, our future is wide open, and it's already mortgaged to pay for environmentally friendly electronics, $15.00 prescriptions, and four more years of NDP leadership. Hey Lorne, while you are at it, can you tell me what next week's 6-49 numbers are?

The current NDP Government boasts 14 consecutive balanced budgets. AHEM! Have you forgotten the Fiscal Equalization Fund? That little fun twist on words is better known to us little people (you know, us voters) as an OVERDRAFT account. Balanced?! You really do think we citizens of Saskatchewan are sheep, don't you?!

Lorne, while we may be simple folks in Saskatchewan, we know that we can't be spending tomorrow's money today. Even Tommy Douglas (were he alive today) would be saying, 'the Cat can't eat mice it hasn't caught yet'. Lorne, next time I see you, I got a pin for you.

Amazing how many budgets you can balance when you don't have to match revenue to expenses. I wouldn't think of it as an overdraft though - think more of a reserve fund that isn't funded. Had a Dip supporter tell me that it was funded through oil and gas revenues in the past and was designed to smooth out low spots if the resource revenues dropped. Imagine their surprise when I pointed out that resource revenues hadn't dropped the last 3 years, but that the budget still drew just about 3/4 of a billion out of the FSF over that time. Amazing what a little research will tell you, eh?
