From the 'Dave's not here' files, the Marijuana issue has hit the Saskatchewan campaign and as anticipated, the POT issue has split along party lines.
Brad wall has admitted he has smoked pot. Back in the day in Speedy Creek, you couldn't fart on North Hill Drive without someone on South Railway smelling it. Common knowledge about Swift Current is: there are just four G's in that sleepy little city. You can:
- get drunk
- get laid
- get stoned
- or get the fuck outta there.
So, Brad has had a drink, we all know Brad has kids, Brad has decided to stick around and lead Saskatchewan, and now we know Brad has had a hoot.
People who know people knew that this question might come up, and now that it has, I must commend Brad Wall for standing up and speaking the truth. Brad could have lied, he could have waffled, he could have tried a Clinton (I tried it but didn't inhale). Brad could have wanted to say anything but yes, but when it came right down to the difficult decision, Brad spoke the Gospel truth. I for one move Brad's stock as a leader up for it.
As for Lorne Calvert, he claims that no, he has NOT smoked the wicked weed, but he may have encountered second hand smoke while in his university days. Well, Lorne, good on ya man for staying off the pipe.
Lorne, says that:
- our health care system is good shape
- Surgical wait lines will get shorter
- our taxes will not go up
- our roads are fine
- people are coming back
Lorne, are you sure you haven't been smoking something?
Now that BOTH PARTIES have started promising 'free or low priced' drugs for everyone, I think I now know what the hidden agenda is that the NDP has been talking about. The Government of Saskatchewan wants to be our 'Dealer'!
With all the promises floating around from BOTH the Left and the Right, I can see exactly where this election is headed. We are off to a wonderful world where one pill makes us happy, the other makes us small. I can just see it now, we roll up to the polling booths, and the Electoral officers holds out his/her hand and offers us a choice:
So, what's the big difference between the NDP and Sask Party Drug Plans? Well, it seems pretty obvious to me, its split along idealogical lines: Brad Wall bought and paid for his drugs, and Lorne Calvert is of the opinion that everyone else should have paid for them.
